On 2nd March, 1918, the 6th Royal West Surrey (Queens) battalion of 37 Brigade, 12th Division, moved into the front line at Bois Grenier close to Armentières where they remained until relieved on 10th March. Throughout the week spent here, the enemy artillery was active and it is likely that it was this that caused the death of Bertram Towers who died from wounds on 10th March. |
